A Festival To Die For : Cherry Blossoms 🌸

Cherry Blossoms is a festival popularly celebrated in countries like India, Japan, the US  in the early part of the year that is Late April to early May., springtime. People come to visit these blossoms each year where they celebrate events like fashion shows, amateur games and personal events such as picnics, birthdays, anniversaries etc. It exudes is a sight to behold., the views are exceptional and never seen before, people make their visits to specific countries/cities especially for this festival. 


It was in Japan that this tradition started, way back in the third century. The festival is more popular after visitors started putting their touristy images on the internet from which is how I also got to know about it. Cherry Blossoms used to be found in Japan only but now you can find these flowers/trees in many countries like India, Austria, Brazil, Australia, China, Canada, Denmark, Germany, South Korea, France, New Zealand etc. The main motive of this festival is to make peace in the world. It flowers at different times in different countries like Japanese celebrate this between mid-March and early May while India experiences it in November.

• Cherry Blossom had massive importance in ancient Japan. Because it used to divine the year's harvest. 

• In United States, Cherry blossom viewing began to spread after Japan gifted Cherry blossoms as a token of friendship in 1912.

• The most popular kind of cherry blossom is "Sakura" which can be found in every country. Yamataka Jindai Sakura is one of the oldest tree located in japan. 

• Hirosaki is home to one of the finest sakura spots. Over 2 million people visit the place every year against the amazing backdrop of Hirosaki castle and Mount Iwaki.   

• Over 400 million Dollars is earned by  Washington, DC every year. While, In India, this festival boasts the local economy by three hundred per cent. 

• Cherry blossoms belong to the Rose Family "Rosaceae", the rose family is a medium-sized family of flowering plants including 4000 known species. 

• Cherry Blossom is highly expensive and can be illegal in a country. For instance, it is illegal to climb a cherry blossom tree in Washington, DC as the branches of the tree is so delicate that the branch can never grow once it is snapped. 

• High Park in Toronto, Ontario features many cherry blossom trees that were loved by the Japanese were given to Toronto in 1959. Japan further gifted different cherry blossom species in 2001 for many other places. 

• In India, Cherry Blossoms are used as attraction as well as incense. It can be found in various cities mostly Himalayan states like Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Uttarakhand And some Northern districts of West Bengal. 

• In Turkey, the trees represent the memory of those who died during the typhoon. In 1890, While returning from a goodwill trip to turkey encountered a typhoon, the shipwreck resulted in the loss of more than 500 sailors and officers. In memory of this, Japan presented blossom trees, each tree represents one sailor of the ship (frigate Ertugrul).
